How would you separate or distill a mixture of water, alcohol, sugar, and iron filings?

It depends of course upon what alcohol it was! But I guess you mean ethanol, which has a boiling point of 78.4 degrees. So distill the mixture first at around 78 degrees, and then again at 100 degrees. Then just use a magnet to remove the iron fillings. Or perhaps best to do that first...
